Julia's House News
Julia’s House has received both funds and been involved with a wide variety of events to raise money to help the Hospice. These range from abseiling, hikes and treks, musicals, Fashion shows, half marathons. Some more unique events have been a zombie walk, parachute jumps and a cycle trek to the Eifel Tower. These fund raising events have come from individuals, local schools and local companies such as Loanfinder.
By fund raising events and donations Loanfinder have made a wonderful contribution to Julia's House to help with new extensions and employ full time nurses. Here is just one news story and quote from the Fundraising team from Julia's House.
"If you missed the Daily Echo on Saturday, we have great pleasure in sharing Alec’s story with you, Alec was one of 3 children to spend the whole weekend at Julia’s House over the first weekend of our overnight care on the 7th to 9th May. Alec absolutely loved his stay, as did the other children, so much in fact that they didn’t want to leave! More children came along for sessions during the day on the Saturday and Sunday and the children all had a lot of fun whilst giving their families a much needed break from the enormous day to day pressures they face.
The official opening of our Families and Therapies Wing took place on the 19th May and we have attached some pictures for you of this special day, the attendees of the opening included our celebrity patrons and Julia’s House children, Ebony and Honey along with our chief executive, Martin Edwards.
The extension that has been built will allow us to increase the facilities we offer and enhance the quality of life for children with complex medical needs and their families in Dorset. The extension which has been designed beautifully has a stunning mural painting of a mermaid all across one wall there is also a courtyard garden for bereaved relatives and a beautiful slate fountain with the inscription ‘Beloved, Treasured, And One Day Re-united.'
Thank you for your continued support, we would welcome the opportunity to arrange a visit for you and your colleagues to our hospice please do get in touch if you are interested in doing so."
